Multiple sources have confirmed that William H. “Bill” Freeman, a titan of Nashville’s business community, former mayoral candidate and a leading fundraiser for the Democratic Party, died Sunday night at the age of 73.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Billionaire businessman Bill Freeman has died. Freeman's son, who is a state representative from Nashville, confirmed the passing. His cause of death is not known at this time.

Bill Freeman, one of Nashville's most prolific property developers and a leading Democratic Party fundraiser, has died. He was 73 years old. His cause of death was not immediately released. Freeman co-founded Freeman Webb Co.

Among his accomplishments, Freeman was co-founder of Freeman Webb Company, a real estate investment, management, and brokerage company. In addition, he ran for mayor of Nashville in 2015 and was a former member of the Metro Nashville Airport Authority.
